KahaniAI — Privacy Policy

mediatechsolutions (“we”, “us”) operates the KahaniAI mobile application (“App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices. By using the App, you agree to this policy.

1. What KahaniAI is

KahaniAI is a free Hindi/Hinglish story reader. Users can browse categories, read stories chapter by chapter, bookmark progress, react to stories, and post comments when signed in. Some story content is intended for mature audiences (18+).

2. Information we collect

2.1 Without signing in (guest)

• Local device data: reading progress, bookmarks, guest story open count (limit of 3 story opens), theme and audio preferences — stored on your device via local storage.
• Anonymous device identifier: a random ID generated on your device to count unique story opens (stored locally, sent to our servers only when you open a story).
• Story & category content: downloaded from Google Firebase Firestore when you browse the App.
• Advertising data: Google AdMob may collect device/ad identifiers to show ads (see Section 5).

2.2 When you sign in with Google

• Account information: Firebase Authentication receives your Google account display name, email address, and profile photo URL.
• User profile: stored in Firestore under users/{your uid} (name, email, photo, premium/ad-free flags).
• Library & reading progress: last chapter, bookmarks, completion status — stored locally and synced to Firestore when logged in.
• Comments: text you post, your user id, display name, photo, timestamp — visible to other users.
• Reactions: like/dislike and emoji reactions on stories and comments, linked to your user id.
• Push notifications: if you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token is stored under your user account for new story alerts. You are subscribed to the “new_stories” topic.
• Crash reports: in release builds, Firebase Crashlytics may attach your Firebase user id to crash logs to help us fix bugs.

2.3 Automatically collected

• Story read counts: when you open a story, we record a deduplicated read event (guest device id or logged-in user id) to update popularity rankings.
• Crash & error logs: Firebase Crashlytics (release builds only; disabled in debug).
• Technical data: app version, device platform (e.g. Android), and standard Firebase/AdMob diagnostics.

3. How we use information

• Provide and improve story reading, search, categories, and library features.
• Sync your progress and bookmarks across devices when logged in.
• Enable comments, reactions, and community features for signed-in users.
• Send optional push notifications about newly published stories.
• Display advertisements to non-premium users.
• Measure story popularity and fix crashes or errors.
• Enforce content policies and administer the App (authorized admins only).

4. Third-party services

We use trusted providers that process data on our behalf:

• Google Firebase — Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics

• Google AdMob — advertisements
  AdMob & personalized ads

These services may collect identifiers described in their own policies. You can limit ad personalization in your device settings: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization (Android).

5. Advertising

The App shows native, banner, and interstitial ads via Google AdMob to users who are not premium or ad-free subscribers. Ads are not shown inside the story reading body in a disruptive way. AdMob may use advertising IDs and device information to deliver and measure ads.

6. Data storage & security

• Cloud data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), protected by Firebase security rules.
• Local preferences stay on your device until you clear app data or uninstall.
• We use industry-standard encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for network communication.
• No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work to protect your data but cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data retention

• Account and library data remain until you delete your account or request deletion.
• Comments and reactions remain visible until you delete them or we remove content that violates policies.
• Read-count deduplication records and crash logs are retained as needed for analytics and reliability.
• Local guest data is removed when you uninstall the App or clear storage.

8. Children

KahaniAI is not directed at children under 13 (or under 18 for mature story content). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Your choices & rights

• Guest mode: use the App without signing in (limited story opens).
• Sign out: Profile → Log out stops syncing; local data may remain on device.
• Notifications: disable in Android system settings for KahaniAI.
• Delete comments: you can delete your own comments in the App when logged in.
• Account deletion: see our account deletion page or email us to remove your Firebase account and associated cloud data.

10. International users

Data may be processed on servers operated by Google in regions where Firebase runs. By using the App, you consent to this processing.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
